WHO ARE YOU?
Reporting to the Vice President, Operational Accounting, the Controller of Western Operations will be responsible for managing the western operational accounting team to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of events and venue operations. This role is responsible for the proper full-cycle accounting of events including income statement and balance sheet activity, and the adherence to internal reporting requirements.
THE ROLE
• Lead and manage day-to-day responsibilities of the operational accounting team.
• Finalize event profit & loss statements.
• Act as primary point of contact for various internal departments, venue management, artist representatives and production staff.
• Assist with pre-settlement and on-site artist settlements for larger arena and stadium events.
• Review and perform income statement, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations
• Take lead on month-end close to ensure completeness and accuracy of balance sheet and P&L statements.
• Prepare and review complex journal entries
• Perform financial analysis on event metrics and venue & co-promoter contracts
• Review and approve work completed by direct reports
• Ensure compliance with a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and internal controls
• Assist corporate accounting team with various audits throughout the year.
• Hire, onboard, and train team members
• Coach, monitor and appraise job results of direct reports, focusing on process efficiency and effectiveness
• Other tasks as assigned
• Some travel may be required.
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
Skills & Qualities Desired
• Experience in managing the month-end close in a tight deadline
• Experience working in a large, complex organization. Preference given to those with public company reporting
• Experience in filing and remitting tax (GST/HST, NRW, PST)
• Strong organizational & time management abilities
• Strong analytical skills and very detail-oriented
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, proactively solve problems, prioritize, and meet time-critical deadlines
• 5+ years full cycle accounting experience at a senior level
• Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Oracle preferred
Education & Knowledge Desired
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education
• Accounting Designation preferred

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk; stands and walks throughout the day; occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels.

$115,000 - $130,000 CAD **
