Framestore is home to awar d winning visionaries working across film, Integrated Advertising and the digital realm. The Data Services team manages data throughout the facility; this includes receiving and delivering all project elements, transcoding and converting files as needed, placing files on a centralized server, safely archiving and maintaining usable space on a facility wide centralized server, performing final QC and delivery of all client material.
The Data Ops Technician role provides support and tools for Artists and Producers; using their technical skills and effective communication to optimise workflows through the facility from ingest to delivery.
Please note this is a junior role, however, a keen interest in VFX is essential. As this is a hybrid role, we can only consider candidates already based in Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitoring, tracking and transferring data throughout the facility for each project
• Bringing data online from a variety of external sources (outside facilities, portable drives, cloud-based servers)
• Securely delivering data to a variety of sources within the company and outside the company
• Transcoding and converting files (i.e. manipulating file format, aspect ratio, frame rate, color space)
• Preparing files, EDLs, and artwork for facility production
• Creating deliverables to client-supplied and ad hoc specifications
• Restoration of project data based on Producer and Artist requirements
• Monitoring renders and hosts on the renderfarm
Essential Skills
• Knowledge of common data transfer protocols eg. FTP, Aspera
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to respectfully interact with co-workers in a professional environment
• Demonstrable ability to use initiative when problem-solving
• Able to accept criticism and feedback
Desirable Skills
• Basic understanding of visual effects, colour grading and computer graphic concepts and terminology
• Basic knowledge of transcoding and converting video formats/codecs/file formats/frame rates
• Experience with Linux and shell scripting
• Basic understanding of computer networking
• Experience with LTO and Backup technology
